A 42-year-old was in for an unpleasant surprise on Sunday after he connected the battery of his electric unicycle in a house in the Zillertal. There was an explosion, which resulted in admission to a special clinic.
At around 2:20 p.m., the 42-year-old charged the battery of his unicycle in the living room in Aschau im Zillertal. He heard a hissing sound, immediately disconnected the power and brought the unicycle onto the patio.
Attempt to remove the battery
He wanted to remove the battery from the unicycle and saw a fluid leak when the battery suddenly exploded. The man suffered severe burns to both legs and left arm. After first aid from the emergency medical team, he was flown to the clinic in Murnau, Bavaria. The hospital specializes in burns.
