Email went to dead people – curious farce about “ghost bonus”

Date:

Government measures against inflation are bearing strange fruit: an email with information about the bonus payment has been sent to a dead woman.

The government’s anti-inflationary measures are also aimed at retirees. However, the authorities are likely to be overwhelmed by the processing of the bonus. Because more than two years after the death, the relatives of a Viennese woman who died at the age of 94 were amazed: Nowadays an e-mail flutters in among the long-dead. “Dear FinanzOnline participant. You have a new message in your messages.”

If you click on the link sent, you will enter the system and you can reactivate the old pension account with the access data. The honest relatives wanted to point out the error that was also given at the reporting center (“We are there from Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.”). But of course she was not available. In addition, the question arises how many “ghosts” are still in the system.

There is also excitement about the announced climate bonus for the autumn. An RSa letter must be delivered to up to three million citizens whose tax authorities have no bank details – with a voucher that can be redeemed at the bank or while shopping. The postage and envelopes alone cost 20 million euros!
