Fraudster arrested – lives in Switzerland, collects social benefits in Tyrol

Date:

Once again, the special police unit for social benefit fraud was able to uncover a blatant case in Tyrol. A 38-year-old local woman allegedly concealed from authorities that she lives and works in Switzerland with her boyfriend. In the meantime, she maintained her residence in Tyrol and received many social benefits in Austria. The damage is enormous.

Minimum security, unemployment benefit, sickness benefit, child benefit: the 38-year-old from the Innsbruck-Land district is said to have received social assistance since the middle of last year and to have defrauded the state. “The woman is accused of harming the responsible authorities by concealing her actual living conditions in Switzerland,” investigators said.

Lived and worked with a friend in Switzerland
During intensive research it was proven that the Tyrolean woman… had a relationship with an Italian in Switzerland. “The suspect lived there with her partner, worked full-time in the catering industry and collected social benefits in Austria in parallel with this income,” the investigators continued.

In total, the alleged fraudster is said to have wrongly received social benefits amounting to more than 50,000 euros. “The main residence in the Innsbruck-Land district was used exclusively for receiving social benefits and related administrative procedures.”

The 38-year-old was reported to the Innsbruck public prosecutor’s office on suspicion of serious fraud.
