Nightmare on Welser Bahnhofsplatz: As many train connections in Upper Austria were canceled on Tuesday morning, numerous buses stopped there as a rail replacement service. A 13-year-old trying to catch his connection was hit and run over by another bus. Despite serious injuries, his life is out of danger.
Dramatic scenes took place directly in front of the Wels train station on Tuesday morning. A 13-year-old student from Marchtrenk apparently wanted to catch his bus at 7:19 a.m. and therefore crossed the road at Bahnhofsplatz.
Boy overlooked
But at exactly that moment, a 49-year-old bus driver from Kirchdorf an der Krems was driving his vehicle. The driver was unable to avoid a collision and hit the boy.
Out of danger
According to police, the student fell and was also run over by the bus, which weighed several tons. The 13-year-old was immediately taken to the shock room at the Wels Clinic with serious injuries. Fortunately, in response to a request from “Krone”, the signal was given: “The patient is seriously injured, but his life is out of danger. The boy is receiving intensive care in our hospital.”
