Many of the teachers who change careers feel comfortable in their new profession, but not all: some even throw in the towel after the first day. One said in an interview with the “Krone” that he hopes to even make it through the school year. The “Krone” has asked the education directorate in Upper Austria for an interim status.
“I imagined it very differently. I didn’t connect with the children.” Or: “I thought I didn’t have to do anything for school in the afternoons and on weekends. There is no overtime for conferences and parent evenings, even if they take place in the evenings. The children are unmotivated, unwilling and unfriendly.’ Or, to put it bluntly, “I’ll be happy if I last a whole school year.”
