The estimated duration of the works is four years. The subfluvial area, which will connect the Artaza and Ballonti roundabouts, requires an investment of 450 million euros.
The Bizkaia Provincial Council plans to approve the final project for the tunnel under the estuary in February next year will connect the Artaza roundaboutson the right bank of the river mouth, and that of Ballonti, on the left bank. This would make it possible start working in the summer, with an estimated term of four years.
The subfluvial area will be a investment of 450 million euros and has received co-financing from the European Investment Bank, with a loan of up to 200 million euros, as announced on Thursday by the Deputy for Infrastructure and Territorial Development, Imanol Pradales.
In the press conference after the weekly Governing Council, the deputy explained that the tunnel project has received 76 accusations from 35 individuals, entities and administrations, 75% of which will be included in whole or in part in the final text. These include an environmental monitoring program and an assessment of the condition of the properties before work commences.
