Trial in Feldkirch – Saufbruder wanted to set fire to emergency sleeping quarters

Date:

After another panic attack, an Unterländer was eventually convicted of dangerous threats and damage to property.

“Judge, when I drink alcohol, I am different,” the swallowing woodpecker said during the trial at the Feldkirch Regional Court on Wednesday. However, this knowledge may not be new to the suspect, especially since he has ten previous convictions for his drinking. This time the 43-year-old disabled pensioner must answer for two crimes from the summer.

Once because he twisted his partner’s arm during an argument and threatened to kill her. He then also destroyed her mobile phone. The second case concerns a panic attack in the emergency shelter “Dowas” in Bregenz. Reason: The suspect refused to have the usual preliminary conversation with the employee, after which the employee put him back into fresh air.

The person who was looking for a place to sleep did not accept this and threatened to burn down the building in return. To support his intention, he held out a few torn branches to the employee. Now the inveterate man is in court complaining: “I should have looked at an apartment that day. But that went wrong. Then my life situation. It was all just too much for me.” Whereupon Mr. Rat explains to him that there is an emergency sleeping place so that people can sleep peacefully there. “Yes, eh,” says the alcoholic insightfully and emphasizes that he wants to make another attempt at kicking the habit, which gives Mr. Rat hope.

The final verdict: six months in prison with probation and a fine of 240 euros. In addition, instructions are given to undergo alcohol withdrawal treatment with semi-annual reporting to the court. When the convicted man asked about reimbursement for travel expenses, the judge replied matter-of-factly: “I think the police brought you. You get nothing.”
