A French senator is under investigation for allegedly drugging a parliamentarian.
The 66-year-old centrist politician is accused of administering the drugs to attack the woman. He also allegedly used and used drugs illegally.
During a comparison, Joël Guerriau presented his version of events, which at the current stage of the investigation does not allow to describe a criminal offense, French media quoted Guerriau’s lawyer Rémi-Pierre Drai.
MP felt unwell after a glass of wine
Referring to investigative circles, the media reported that the deputy was at Guerriau’s home on Tuesday evening. After a glass of wine she felt unwell and left. Ecstasy was found in her blood. The investigators also found the same substance at the senator’s home.
Guerriau’s lawyer said he was shocked that details of the investigation had been leaked to the media. The lawyer emphasized to the AFP news agency that the truth was “far from the damning image”.
