“I have a slight shoulder injury, which means I won’t be able to play in the Davis Cup.“, declared the 36-year-old Scot, number 42 in the world, as quoted by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) on X (formerly Twitter).
“I’m disappointed that I can’t play for the team, but now I’m focused on my rehabilitation. and preparation for the new season,” added the three-time Grand Slam winner.
Together with the British team, they had to face Serbia, led by world number 1 Novak Djokovic, in the quarterfinals of the Davis Cup knockout phase, which will be held from November 21 to 26 in Malaga.
The other three quarters will pit defending champion Canada against Finland.in the Czech Republic with Australia and Italy with Holland.
