Accepting a friend request on Facebook should be carefully considered. Especially if you don’t know the person who is supposedly behind it.
“Hot Chat” was fatal
A 49-year-old from the Freistadt district not only ignored this basic rule, but literally dropped his pants when he had a very heated conversation with a young man he previously did not know.
But then it became clear that the Mühlviertler had been caught off guard. His chat partner had filmed the naked man and threatened to make these compromising recordings public – unless he received 30,000 euros. But the victim kept a cool head and did not respond to the demands. Instead, he filed a complaint.
26 victims fled
And in Salzburg, police arrested a 31-year-old from the Vöcklabruck district: he and his accomplices allegedly robbed at least 26 victims with investment fraud involving cryptocurrencies. The damage is estimated at a maximum of 400.00 euros.
