When two vans collided in the Ilztal in eastern Styria on Monday evening, both drivers were drunk! One of them, seriously injured, ran into the forest and that was where his escape ended: he was found by the fire brigade in a very sedated condition.
At around 7.20pm, two small vans collided on the B54 in Prebensdorf. Both drivers are from the Weiz district – and both were drunk, one 35-year-old even seriously.
He suffered serious injuries, but still wanted to escape from the accident scene to an adjacent forest. After about 200 meters he lay dazed on the ground. Firefighters, who also used thermal imaging cameras, found him after more than 15 minutes, and a rescue helicopter flew the man to the LKH Graz.
Second driver also injured
The second driver, 28 years old, was taken to LKH Hartberg with minor injuries. The Pischelsdorf and Neudorf-Großpesendorf fire brigades had 45 men on duty.
