Within two days, an air gun was fired at the same location. Two passers-by were hit.
A currently unknown person is said to have shot a man in a park in Vienna-Meidling with an air rifle on Monday. The 26-year-old was hit in the head, alerted the rescue team, received emergency medical care and was taken to hospital.
Shot in the thigh
The next day, shots were fired again with an air rifle at the same location. This time a 46-year-old woman was hit in the thigh area. She had just walked along Wolfganggasse. The woman alerted the police. She also received emergency medical care from rescuers and was taken to a hospital.
Connection not excluded
The Vienna State Criminal Investigation Department, South Division, has taken over the investigation. It is currently unclear who fired the shots and where they came from. Interviews with the victims are still ongoing.
A connection between the two incidents cannot be ruled out, but the background is still completely unclear.
