Dramatic minutes occurred on Thursday morning in the Traismauer area of Lower Austria: a 70-year-old fell into the Danube. Brave passers-by became aware of the woman’s fate and pulled her out of the water.
It is not yet known why the elderly woman fell into the Danube. Anyway, around 8 a.m. a truck driver and another passerby discovered the woman in the water and immediately came to her aid.
According to Philipp Gutlederer of Emergency Call Lower Austria, the 70-year-old suffered from severe hypothermia. She was flown to the St. Pölten University Hospital with the emergency medical helicopter “Christophorus 2”. In addition to the helicopter, the Red Cross, the fire brigade and the police were also deployed.
