Heaven’s Gate Mission – Confirmed: Hamas released 25 people

Date:

According to Egyptian and Israeli sources, thirteen hostages have been handed over to the Red Cross in the Gaza Strip. The Thai Prime Minister also announced that twelve of his compatriots have also been released. The Thais were in Israel as guest workers when the country was invaded.

The hostages held by Hamas will be housed in safe rooms in Israel after their agreed release. The Israeli army announced on Friday that the first thirteen women and children there will receive the necessary medical treatment and support.

According to Egypt’s State Information Service, preparations are underway in Rafah to receive twelve Thai hostages and thirteen Israeli women and children. According to reports, the prisoners were transferred to Khan Younis Hospital in the south of the enclave.

From hell to the “gates of heaven”
After initial shelter and medical treatment, they must be taken to hospitals where they can meet their families. The mission was dubbed ‘Heaven’s Gate’ by the Israeli army.

The released people are taken by helicopter to various clinics. The military called on the public and media to be patient and sensitive. “We ask everyone to respect the privacy of the released hostages and their families.”

Psychologists assume that children in particular could become seriously traumatized after seven weeks of being held hostage. They also witnessed the worst violence on October 7.

Palestinians were displaced
It is not yet known when the 39 Palestinian prisoners will be released in return. A spokeswoman for the Israel Prisons Authority said she could only confirm that prisoners from Damon Prison were headed to Ofer Prison between Jerusalem and Ramallah.

Hamas wants to adhere to the ceasefire
In his first speech after the ceasefire in the Gaza war took effect, Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh reiterated that the terrorist group was willing to adhere to the ceasefire as long as Israel also committed to it. The Egyptian television channel Al-Qahira News broadcast the speech on Friday afternoon.

“After almost fifty days, the enemy has yielded to the conditions of resistance and willpower of our brave people, thereby agreeing to an agreement and a partial exchange of prisoners,” Haniyeh said.

The first ceasefire after about seven weeks of war came into effect at 7 a.m. local time (6 a.m. CET). It should initially be valid for four days.
