An apartment complex caught fire on Tamsweg on Saturday evening. Due to the location of the house in the city center, extinguishing the fire was very difficult for the emergency services.
The Tamsweg fire brigade was alerted on Saturday evening due to a chimney fire. It quickly became clear that this would be a difficult operation. The roof structure of an apartment building in the center of Tamsweg caught fire. When the emergency services arrived, the roof structure was already completely on fire.
The fire brigade immediately started evacuating the building. 14 residents were led out of the house and emergency services also had to rescue an elderly person from the attic. No one was injured in the fire. As the situation proved to be difficult, additional fire brigades from Lungau and Obertauern were alerted.
The fire is currently still being fought. A turntable ladder and two crane trucks are in use. 180 firefighters are fighting the flames. The Red Cross is also on site with ten emergency services.
