On Sunday morning there was a devastating fire in an apartment in Vienna-Margareten. A resident (34) suffered smoke poisoning and burns to his hands.
According to the professional fire brigade, the alarm came at 4:41 am in Kohlgasse. The two-room fire apartment was located on the fifth floor, the injured person was already on the ground floor.
Stairs filled with smoke
The fire was extinguished with a pipe. A couple in an attic apartment above the fire were rescued. Because the stairwell was also full of smoke, the fire brigade used high-pressure fans.
Person rescued from elevator
There was an influx of fire extinguishing water into the apartment below the fire apartment. Last but not least, firefighters rescued a person from the building’s elevator, which had stopped. They arrived at the scene of the fire with 27 emergency services and six vehicles.
