They were still little boys, but despite hunger, despair and the brutal Nazi regime, they steadfastly held to their anti-war beliefs. The story of Rudi, Franz and Max Tschoggl is shocking. Her descendant Friedrich Tschoggl still tells the story.
The charismatic Friedrich Tschoggl, 73, retired in Leoben, tells the story of his father Max and his two brothers impressively but almost emotionlessly. Otherwise he probably couldn’t do it. “My father himself has already described it to schools,” he says. “But only rarely. It took such a toll on him psychologically that he always burst into tears.’
In fact, the fate is so terrible and says so much about the utterly ruthless, cynical Nazi regime that you cannot believe it; and yet Tschoggl tells it this way.
