Third group arrived – Israel: freed Hamas hostage in mortal danger

Date:

On Sunday, Hamas released more Israeli hostages. One of them is said to be in a life-threatening condition. In addition, the terrorist organization is said to have expressed its wish to extend the planned ceasefire until Tuesday.

After a third group of hostages arrived in Israel on Sunday, the terrorists restored the freedom of a total of 58 abductees. With an extended ceasefire, Hamas is pursuing its goal of freeing more Palestinian prisoners, as it announced this evening.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed in a telephone call with US President Joe Biden on Sunday evening (local time) that military action to destroy Hamas would continue after the end of the ceasefire. The head of government, who is under strong domestic pressure from family members, added that he welcomes the possibility of releasing 10 additional hostages for each additional day of the ceasefire. The deal brokered by the emirate of Qatar stipulates that Israel will release three Palestinian criminals from prison for every Hamas hostage released.

39 Palestinian prisoners released
According to Israeli media, one of the hostages released on Sunday was in mortal danger. The 84-year-old woman was taken to an Israeli clinic in a life-threatening condition, the hospital in Beersheba said. The Israeli army had previously announced that the Red Cross had handed over 12 Israeli hostages at the Gaza Strip-Israel border, and that another had been taken to hospital by helicopter. In return, 39 Palestinian prisoners were released from various Israeli prisons that evening. According to prison authorities, they are all under 19 years old and one of them is from the Gaza Strip.

Further publication is expected on Monday
A total of 58 hostages have already been released during the days-long ceasefire. The release of more hostages kidnapped by the Islamists on October 7 is expected on Monday. There was great joy over the release this weekend, but it was overshadowed by concern for the people left in captivity. In Israel, nearly 180 hostages are still believed to be in the hands of Hamas. Among those released since Friday were 40 Israelis, including several foreign nationals with dual citizenship. The family of Austrian-Israeli citizen Tal Shoham, who was still held by the terrorists, was also released.

For the first time on Sunday, a four-year-old girl who has American citizenship was also taken hostage, US President Joe Biden announced on Sunday at a short press conference in Nantucket, Massachusetts. “She is free and she is in Israel now,” Biden said. “What she had to endure is unimaginable.” Both parents were killed by terrorists in the terrorist attack seven weeks ago. The girl was kidnapped to the Gaza Strip. He turned four years old on Friday.
