Florianis in action – First snow causes slipping on roads

Date:

Florianis in constant use: The winter driving conditions on numerous roads in Lower Austria were fatal for some drivers this weekend.

The first snowfall of the year resulted in a veritable marathon of operations for the fire brigade this weekend. In all weather conditions – and sometimes in the dark – the Florianis had to respond to dozens of traffic accidents in all parts of the country.

Lost control of car
On the Höhenstraße near Klosterneuburg, a driver lost control of his vehicle due to heavy snow and sped into the forest. The fire brigade had to lift the wreckage from the forest with a crane truck.

In Zwettl, two cars collided at a roundabout, with one car ending up on its side due to the force of the collision. Three people were injured in the crash.

Search drone in use
A collision between two vehicles also took place on the A5 near Wolkersdorf. While the occupants were treated and flown to hospital by emergency medical helicopter, a search began for the Florianis – because according to witnesses, a driver allegedly left the scene after the accident. However, due to the snowfall, the use of a search drone had to be stopped. The police have now started an investigation.

The first snowfall also placed many demands on the fire brigade in the streets around Semmering. Due to the weather conditions, several vehicles left the road. At the beginning of the afternoon alone, three cars had to be rescued here.

Florianis by white splendor in constant use
And around the Hohe Wand in the Wiener Neustadt district, comrades were also warned by the dense flakes falling from the sky. For example, the Meiersdorf fire brigade also had to carry out several rescue missions. Fortunately, no one was injured during the accidental excursions due to the white splendor.
