After the accident near Wolkersdorf in the Weinviertel, the emergency services used search drones and dozens of volunteers to search for a missing driver. Because after two vehicles collided on the northern highway, there was suddenly no trace of either driver. Witnesses saw the man running away.
Because it was not clear whether the person involved had possibly been injured and had run away in shock, the search was started. However, heavy snowfall quickly forced the aerial search to be halted.
The 25-year-old was heavily intoxicated
But first the helpers had to take care of the other driver. The Weener (25) had to be taken to the hospital in Mistelbach with injuries of an undetermined nature, where it was determined that he was heavily drunk. Police investigation shows that the man does not have a driver’s license. His 16-year-old passenger escaped with minor injuries.
However, the other driver is probably responsible for the accident. According to a statement from the executive, he overlooked the vehicle in front of him in the thick snow and crashed into the rear of it. While firefighters later searched for the missing driver, investigators investigated the driver.
The fugitive driver has been located
This concerns a 26-year-old who also does not have a valid driver’s license. As soon as the investigation is completed, both drivers will be reported to the Korneuburg Public Prosecutor’s Office and the responsible district administration.
