The fears for a 44-year-old resident from Hall and a 72-year-old woman from Innsbruck remain. No trace of either has disappeared since November 19 and 21. People are also literally missing in the Ötztal and Natters.
“Without clues it is like looking for a needle in a haystack,” says Markus Isser of the mountain rescue service in the Hall area. But there were no clues when the woman reported the 44-year-old’s disappearance. Hall’s mountain rescue teams had already searched for the man with 23 emergency services on November 19.
“We have turned over almost every stone in a forest and in the front Halltal,” says Isser. The operation, which also involved the Alpine Police, dogs and the police helicopter, was unsuccessful.
Fear of accidents
The search has now been interrupted. “We will only start the search again if we receive new information,” says police spokesman Stefan Eder. An accident is feared for the Haller – as was the case for the 72-year-old woman from Innsbruck, who disappeared just two days after the 44-year-old – also without a trace. Searches at possible locations in Innsbruck have so far been unsuccessful.
Mysterious case in the Ötztal
Another missing person case from a while ago is also mysterious. At the beginning of January, a 52-year-old resident from Gries im Sulztal did not return from a walk. A major search for him was also unsuccessful. “We have examined all possible places,” says Peter Gasteiger, head of the Alpine police in the Imst district. For now, the locals remain as if swallowed by the earth.
Were arrested and then disappeared
The same applies to a then 67-year-old from Natters. He collected goods from a locksmith in Matrei am Brenner on May 4, 2022. Since then his trail has been lost. Maybe it will be ‘Commissioner’ Random who finds out what happened to these people.
