The Minister of Public Administration and Self-Government, Olatz Garamendi, will report this afternoon on the details of the announcement of the 3,108 places that the Basque government will offer in the General Administration.

Garamendi will appear with the Executive’s spokesperson after the Governing Council to further explain the offer. On May 5, the counselor informed the unions about the OPE of more than 3,100 places. 60% of that will be awarded on a merit assessment basis only, and will take into account, among other things, years of service in the administration, as well as professional and academic training. The remaining 1,219 places are determined by the opposition.

In addition, during today’s meeting, the executive also approves the job offer related to the local government official with government authorisation, such as municipal secretaries, accountants and treasurers.

These calls aim to “reduce the high intermediate tariff in the administration”, as claimed from Europe and already enacted by the so-called ‘Iceta law’. These PPOs are complemented by the PPOs announced by other departments such as Education—with the announcement of 6,300 places—or Health—in a PPO of 3,000 places—.

Likewise, the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa will announce today the number of posts it intends to consolidate. It is estimated that there will be around 200.

The government of Navarra announced yesterday the call for 3,589 health, education and administration places within the extraordinary stabilization process. 80.5% of the positions correspond to selective processes to be performed through the merit-based competition system, and almost 20% (699 places) to competitive competition procedures.
