Slid over A12 – arm collided with bridge: truck lost crane on A12

Dangerous scenes occurred in the Tyrolean lowlands near Langkampfen (Kufstein district) on Tuesday morning: on the Inntal highway, a truck lost its loading crane because the driver forgot to fully retract the boom.

The 42-year-old resident had used the loading crane to lift a container onto his truck around 7.40am before driving it onto the A12 westbound at the Kufstein Süd exit. What he may have overlooked: the crane mounted on the truck was not fully retracted.

Truck swerved 150 meters across the highway
When the truck passed the access bridge to the Inn power plant in the municipality of Langkampfen, an accident occurred: the loading crane rubbed against the bridge and was broken off, the truck started to sway. After 150 meters, the driver finally managed to stop the vehicle on the emergency lane.

Fortunately, no one was injured in the accident. However, police said there was significant damage to the vehicle, bridge and road.
