The Islamist Hamas handed over another group of hostages to the Red Cross on Tuesday evening as part of the ceasefire in the Gaza war. The Israeli military said there were 10 Israelis and two foreigners. There would also be an Austrian among them.
The group of releasedes “consists of a minor and nine women, an Austrian national, two Argentinians and a Philippine national,” Qatar’s Foreign Ministry has now confirmed. The identity is still unclear. The confirmed hostage so far was Austrian-Israeli dual national Tal Shoham.
In return, another thirty Palestinian prisoners will be released. It was the fifth group of hostages released since the ceasefire began on Friday.
Armistice extended
The four-day ceasefire that started on Friday morning was extended by two days under the previously applicable conditions. This could take until Thursday morning. It was initially unknown whether it would be extended again afterwards.
