A young man targeted police officers in the German state of Lower Saxony. He strangled an officer until he lost consciousness. Even after the arrest, he could not calm down…
At around 5 a.m. on Saturday morning, police officers were called to a brawl in the Meppen district, the Osnabrück Public Prosecutor’s Office announced on Sunday. Two officers then chased the 21-year-old who was named as a suspect.
However, a police officer met the man alone in the station area. A scuffle broke out, the 21-year-old put the officer in a headlock and choked him until he lost consciousness. Only when another police officer came to help did the man let go and run away. After massive resistance, other officers were finally able to arrest him.
The Public Prosecution Service assumes intent to murder
But it wasn’t over yet! At the station he attacked the officers again, who reportedly managed to restrain him only with enormous effort. According to the authorities, the attacked police officer was in mortal danger and was injured. The Public Prosecution Service therefore assumes that there was intent involved.
An investigating judge therefore issued an arrest warrant for the 21-year-old on Saturday for attempted murder and other crimes. According to the Public Prosecution Service, the man already has several convictions for violent crimes and there are many other investigations against him, mainly for violent crimes.
