At the Wiener Neustadt Regional Court on Tuesday, a man was sentenced to seven years in prison for attempted intentional grievous bodily harm. The suspect allegedly attacked his ex-partner with a knife in the Neunkirchen district in April and cut the woman. According to the court, the guilty verdict is not legally binding.
Cut on the face
The knife attack took place on April 6. The suspect allegedly attacked the victim several times. The attacker’s former partner suffered a cut to her face and abrasions to her skin.
Wanted to attack the second person
According to the court, the suspect was prevented from carrying out his plan to attack a second person by other people present. This incident was also classified on Tuesday as attempted intentional grievous bodily harm.
The suspect was initially charged with attempted murder. However, the majority of the jury did not answer the main question affirmatively.
