Metre-high flames destroyed a small hunting lodge in a forest in Upper Carinthia on Tuesday evening.
The fire burned for almost half an hour in the wooden hut northeast of the Reißkofelbad asylum center in Kirchbach before a farmer noticed a fire on the other side of the valley around 8 p.m. and alerted emergency services. “When we arrived on the scene, the hut was already completely ablaze,” says a firefighter.
Forest fires could be prevented
One hundred men from a total of nine fire brigades fought the flames and were just able to prevent a forest fire: “The fire was quickly extinguished with heavy breathing equipment,” says Floriani. Nevertheless, the hunting lodge was completely destroyed.
The cause of the flaming inferno has not yet been clarified. The exact extent of the damage is still unknown. However, no one was injured in the fire.
