“It wasn’t murder” – foster mother run over: 13-year-old has to be taken into custody

Date:

A boy in Britain tried to run away in his foster mother’s car, ran over the woman and fatally injured the 60-year-old. A court in the northern English city of Sheffield has now sentenced the 13-year-old to two years in juvenile detention. “The crime you committed was serious, but it was not murder,” the judge said on Wednesday.

The boy hit his caregiver in April. At the time, he had only been with her for care for a few days, the PA news agency reported. That evening he grabbed the car keys, grabbed a knife and tried to drive away.

“Panic”
The suspect admitted to killing the woman by driving recklessly and stealing a knife. The prosecutor subsequently dropped the murder charge. He told police he missed his family and wanted to be with them. He had never driven a car before and panicked. He never meant to hurt the woman.
