Israel was able to repel the attack from the Gaza Strip. Shortly before, sirens had sounded near the cordoned-off coastal area.
Shortly after the ceasefire officially expired, the Israeli army finally announced that it would continue fighting the Islamist Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
