Devastating accident on Thursday evening in the Tyrolean lowlands: a pedestrian (53) was hit by a car on a protection path in Wörgl (Kufstein district) and seriously injured. The driver then crashed his car into an oncoming vehicle.
According to police, the horrific accident happened around 8:15 p.m. The 53-year-old local resident wanted to cross the protective path in the vicinity of the church. “The traffic light there was ‘flashing orange’ at the time,” investigators say.
Steer saw pedestrians too late
The approaching motorist – a 34-year-old Afghan – noticed the pedestrian too late and was unable to avoid a collision. The Tyrolean suffered serious injuries.
Another car sped away
“While trying to avoid the pedestrian, the Afghan man’s car struck an oncoming vehicle driven by a 27-year-old Austrian woman,” investigators continued.
To the clinic with rescue
Passersby immediately provided first aid to the seriously injured man. After receiving emergency medical care at the scene of the accident, the 53-year-old was taken by ambulance to the Innsbruck clinic. The two cars were slightly damaged, the drivers were unharmed.
