A 38-year-old initiated an operation by the WEGA special unit on Thursday. The man was looking for his wife (27), who he said was in an acquaintance’s apartment. When the concerned Viennese knocked on the door of his apartment in Meidling, an unknown man opened the door and hit him in the face with his fist.
The 38-year-old immediately responded by running away. He stated that he saw the man pick up a knife and a gun. The suspect then ran after him. However, the injured man managed to escape and called the police emergency number.
The door to the apartment was opened by WEGA’s special unit and no suspect was found, but officers did find several knives and objects used for drug use, according to the release. The 38-year-old was taken to hospital after receiving initial care from Vienna’s professional rescue service.
