A serious traffic accident took place on Thursday afternoon in the German municipality of Tettnang (Baden-Württemberg), not far from the border with Vorarlberg. A 38-year-old Tesla driver skidded his vehicle on the snowy road and crashed into an oncoming truck.
The 38-year-old drove his Tesla from Tettnang towards Kressbronn on wet, winter road conditions shortly after noon and overtook several vehicles in the forest area. Presumably because his speed was not adapted to the weather, his car skidded and collided head-on with an oncoming truck.
The steering wheel had to be cut from the wreckage
Firefighters had to free the trapped 38-year-old from the Tesla with the help of technical equipment. An emergency service took the seriously injured man to a clinic after emergency medical treatment. The driver of the truck escaped in shock.
Large contingent of emergency services
According to the police, the total damage to the vehicles, both of which were no longer drivable, amounted to around 70,000 euros. In addition to the police and a large part of the fire brigade, the rescue service including emergency chaplains were also present.
