He was just a passenger and could do nothing about it: Eight days after an accident in the Bindermichl tunnel in Linz, an 18-year-old from Linz died on Friday in the capital’s university hospital. A friend (21) collided his car with a crash cushion, seriously injuring the 18-year-old.
The 21-year-old from the Linz-Land district was driving a car on the northern carriageway A7 Mühlkreisautobahn in the Bindermichl tunnel on November 23 around 11:50 p.m. For reasons still unknown, he collided with the shock absorber that separates the third lane of the main road from the Muldenstrasse exit. A passenger, an 18-year-old Russian from Linz, was seriously injured in the accident. A 16-year-old passenger from the Linz-Land district was unharmed.
Admitted to the university hospital
The 18-year-old was taken to the Kepler University Hospital in Linz after receiving initial care from the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund and the emergency doctor. The Bindermichl tunnel had to be closed for an hour due to first aid and clean-up work.
Now came the sad news:
The 18-year-old died on December 1 in the university hospital from his serious injuries.
