The police in Rum near Innsbruck are currently dealing with a criminal case that is as strange as it is mysterious: unknown perpetrators felled a tree at the intersection of several hiking trails on Sunday evening, causing it to fall onto the path.
The unknown perpetrators struck between Saturday 5:30 PM and Sunday 9:00 AM. They probably used a hacksaw to cut down the 20-meter-high tree, so that it fell directly on the seven-way intersection. From there, the paths branch off to the Enzianhütte, the Garzanhof and the Therechnerhof, which means that many pedestrians and cyclists pass here, especially at weekends.
The tree at the intersection made passing difficult. The Rum fire brigade had to come to remove the tree.
The police are now looking for people who can provide useful information about the material damage. You are requested to report to Rum police station (059133 7121).
