On Sunday, in the presence of several witnesses, a 61-year-old from the Liezen district fell about 50 meters on the Kampermauer (municipality of Weyer). For the experienced athlete, all help came too late; even resuscitation measures that were immediately initiated no longer helped.
On Sunday around 2:20 p.m., witnesses reported that a person had fallen from a great height on the Kampermauer in the municipality of Weyer. The emergency medical helicopter “Martin 3”, the Windischgarsten police, the Alpine police and mountain rescue then went to the scene. Several climbers present attempted CPR until the emergency medical team arrived, but tragically all help came too late for the climber.
Unknotted rope ends
According to eyewitnesses, the 61-year-old from the Liezen district (Stemk.) climbed several routes in front, secured himself and was about to abseil to his belay position. The experienced climber fell about 50 meters to the base of the wall and suffered fatal injuries. The cause of the accident was determined by the Alpine Police to be loose rope ends during the abseiling.
