Unknotted rope ends
According to eyewitnesses, the 61-year-old from the Liezen district (Stemk.) climbed several routes in front, secured himself and was about to abseil to his belay position. The experienced climber fell about 50 meters to the base of the wall and suffered fatal injuries. The cause of the accident was determined by the Alpine Police to be loose rope ends during the abseiling.
