Big shock for everyone involved: At the opening of a house in St. Anna am Aigen (Southeast Styria district), only the skeleton of the resident, who had apparently died years ago, was found. No one can explain how the death of the Styrians could go unnoticed for so long.
Police spokesman Fritz Grundnig told Krone on Friday that he had rarely come across a case like this. The director was called in during a house opening on Tuesday in St. Anna am Aigen in southeastern Styria.
What was found here made even experienced officials shudder: the resident, a 55-year-old Styrian, must have died years ago because the corpse had already been skeletonized.
Foul play unlikely
“At this time we do not suspect foul play. The circumstances indicate a medical emergency. “But we can only say for sure once the autopsy results are available,” Grundnig said. Due to the ongoing investigation, no further details can be provided.
Be that as it may, the early retiree is said to have led a very secluded life; it is said that there are no immediate neighbors.
2381 inhabitants community
But the central question is a socio-political one anyway: how is it possible that no one misses someone for so long – especially in such a small community? “The man had family, but apparently had not had contact with them for a long time,” the police spokesperson said.
