Experts from the Documentation Center for Political Islam paint a bleak picture of the Dar al Janub association, located in the town hall in Vienna-Ottakring. The organization uses its social media presence to spread religious extremist content from Hamas & Co. The scandal spreads widely…
The Documentation Center for Political Islam has now also exposed dark stories from municipal housing in Vienna. According to a report by the “Krone”, independent experts have now confirmed the alleged activities of Dar al Janub, an association for “anti-racist and peace policy initiatives”.
The organization regularly uses its social media presence to spread religious extremist content from various groups – such as Hamas or Islamic Jihad – according to a 27-page report.
The publications also mention the veneration of terrorists as martyrs and meetings with Hamas boss Ismail Haniyya are also celebrated. A fact that has been known for months, but has simply been ignored until now.
The city is passing the buck
While Dar al Janub is still quietly staying in the urban residential building in Vienna-Ottakring, the landlords are now considering legal action: “Wiener Wohnen is currently in contact with the responsible security authorities to draw conclusions about rental law if necessary,” a spokeswoman explained at the time that was asked. A demand that the ÖVP Vienna – around party chairman Karl Mahrer and integration councilor Caroline Hungerländer – has been raising for weeks.
The SPÖ and NEOS, which govern together in the town hall, rejected a similar request from the opposition in advance, but have now stated in a joint broadcast that the Office for the Protection of the Constitution will be the first to act. A real declaration of bankruptcy, says the political competition.
A shameless perpetrator-victim reversal
The ‘propaganda group’ from the 16th district of Vienna reacts calmly to the accusations, but sees itself in the role of victim: ‘We are not ‘Viennese Islamists’ sitting in the municipal building, but a legal association that has been fighting racism for twenty years and is working on the peace policy,” says chairman Peter Leidenmuehler.
