Fight against Hamas: – Israeli ground forces active in the entire Gaza Strip!

Date:

Following the end of the ceasefire, fighting between Israel and the Islamist Hamas in the Gaza Strip continues at full force. The south in particular is increasingly coming into the picture. Eyewitnesses reported Israeli ground forces in the region on Sunday evening. The military has now confirmed operations throughout the Palestinian territory.

More than five weeks after the start of the Israeli ground offensive in the north of the Gaza Strip, the army is expanding its ground operations to the entire Palestinian territory. The soldiers took action against targets of the Islamist Hamas, army spokesman Daniel Hagari said on Sunday evening.

Eyewitnesses had previously reported that Israeli ground forces had also entered the south of the Gaza Strip. They were in an area east of the town of Khan Yunis, eyewitnesses said. The reports cannot initially be independently verified.

Netanyahu: “War against Hamas until the end”
Israeli ground forces have been deployed in the northern Gaza Strip for weeks. According to its own statements, the army has also been carrying out massive air strikes in the south since the end of the several-day ceasefire on Friday. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed that the war against Islamist Hamas would continue “until the end” and until “total victory” over the terrorist organization, as the Times of Israel reported. He therefore made it clear that ground operations were the only way to destroy Hamas.

American politicians warn Israel
Leading US politicians urged Israel to better protect civilians during hostilities. Negotiations between Israel and Hamas on a new ceasefire and a hostage exchange for Palestinian prisoners had previously broken down. Hamas subsequently stated that it would only release hostages once Israel ended its “aggression” and there was a permanent ceasefire.

Gaza Strip: 1.8 million people had to leave their homes
In the south, hundreds of thousands of Palestinians who have fled the north are trying to avoid the shelling. According to the UN, people live in very small spaces. According to UN estimates, about 1.8 of the Gaza Strip’s more than 2.2 million residents had to leave their homes because of the war.

The spokesman for the UN children’s fund Unicef, James Elder, sharply criticized the Israeli attacks during a visit to the south of the Gaza Strip. A “massacre” is taking place there that is “immoral” and that “will certainly be perceived as illegal,” Elder told Al-Jazeera news channel. Anyone who accepts this is guilty of themselves. “Silence is complicity,” said the visibly shaken elder.
