Crazy rampage – man fled from police in city at 75mph

Date:

Incredible scenes took place early on Wednesday evening in the Vorarlberg community of Hard. A 40-year-old Turkish national, who was denied entry to Austria, ignored a police attempt to stop him and then fled at excessive speed.

Around 6:20 p.m., a police patrol wanted to stop and check a high-powered car on Harder Hofsteigstrasse. However, the driver ignored the police stop signals and continued along the Rheinstrasse (L202) towards Höchst. Police chased the fleeing driver and determined he was speeding. At times he drove at a speed of 120 km/h in the area, crossed red lights several times and forced other participants in the vehicle to take evasive action.

A dead end cannot stop the disaster either
From Rheinstrasse, the escapee first turned into Landstrasse and then continued onto Erlachstrasse. There he again fled from the police to the Bödeleweg at a speed of up to 105 km/h. Since it was a dead end, he turned his vehicle around and wanted to drive back onto Erlachstrasse. But a police patrol blocked his way with the commercial vehicle.

Policewoman saves herself by jumping out of the way
But that couldn’t stop the man: he swerved onto the sidewalk, where a police officer could only avoid a collision by jumping out of the way. Shortly afterwards, another police patrol managed to stop the fleeing car.
Because the driver would not open the doors of the vehicle, a side window had to be smashed to arrest him.

Alcohol test negative, suspected drug use
The driver is a 40-year-old Turkish citizen. He does not have a valid driver’s license. The alcohol test was negative, but he refused to take a driving test due to a suspected drug disorder. The vehicle was seized.
