Local authorities confirm suspected shooter has been arrested
At least two children have been killed and a dozen more were injured after an “active gunman” attacked an elementary school in the southern United States town of Uvalde, Texas.
Hospital employees confirmed this to the American television channel ABC, which also took over the information from the Uvalde police about the arrest of a suspect.
For his part, the mayor of Uvalde, Don McLoaughlin, admitted to the aforementioned television that the situation is “very bad” and that his team is trying to contact the parents of the children to pass on any information they have.
Earlier, the Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District had reported on its Twitter profile that there had been “active shooting” in the area, prompting residents to vacate the area.
