What happened on November 23 in the Floridsdorf Großfeldsiedlung can certainly be described as a pre-Christmas miracle. Two police officers rescued an unconscious 75-year-old woman from the bathtub. Now she and her son thanked their heroes.
It is often said that there are too many negative and too few positive stories in the media. On the other hand, something moving and dramatically positive happened in Floridsdorf a few weeks ago. His mother (75) has the lung disease COPD and is dependent on oxygen. This is what Thomas Lang says to the “Krone”.
Mother did not respond to calls
On November 23 he was in Lower Austria, about an hour and a half drive from Vienna. However, the elderly lady did not respond to a quick check-up call to his mother. Unable to reach her for over an hour, her son, very worried, called the police emergency number 133.
The woman was unconscious in the bathtub
After just a few minutes, the cathartic yet shocking phone call came. Two police officers from the nearby inspection station in Kürschnergasse immediately went to the allotment house. When they broke it open, they found the 75-year-old unconscious and in danger of drowning in the bathtub. The two men had to resuscitate the woman, who already had water in her lungs.
“To me they are both heroes”
The elderly woman is now recovering from the incident; she may have had a circulatory collapse. The fear is still written on her son’s face. He is eternally grateful to the police officers and rescuers. To me they are both heroes. According to the doctor, just five minutes longer would have been enough and it would have been too late,” Lang tells the “Krone”.
