Israel again accuses UN Secretary General of bias by invoking Article 99 for Gaza

Date:

He believes that “the invocation of Article 99 is another example of the biased and partisan attitude of Guterres,” whose decision represents a “disgrace to his office.”

Israel’s Foreign Minister Eli Cohen has once again accused United Nations Secretary General António Guterres of taking a biased position against the Jewish State by invoking Article 99 of the Charter of the United Nations. United Nations, in its personal capacity, to call for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza war.

Cohen formulated this criticism on his social network account. They have this right as permanent members of the group, arguing that a ceasefire would only benefit the Islamist Hamas movement. For Cohen, “the invocation of Article 99 is another example of the Guterres’ biased and partisan attitude“, whose decision represents a “disgrace to his office” and a “sign of Cain before the United Nations”.

The minister added, after wondering why this same article has not been used in cases such as the wars in Ukraine or Syria: “a ceasefire at this point would only prevent the collapse of Hamasan organization that continues to commit war crimes and crimes against humanity.

Finally, Cohen expressed his “gratitude” to the United States for “continuing to fight for the return of the hostages” held by Hamas since October 7, and for “eliminating this terrorist organization, which will lead to a better future for the region”.
