Date:

Dramatic scenes played out on the streets of Vienna on Friday evening. A motorist (34) refused to control the vehicle and then chased the police. The speeder caused several serious accidents with his Jaguar. A cyclist and two other people were injured. The driver of the accident has been arrested and his passenger is still being sought.

The 34-year-old Jaguar driver was originally scheduled to be checked at Gaudenzdorfer Belt around 8:30 p.m. However, he stepped on the gas and fled from the officers.

An accident with the police could be prevented
According to the police, the man apparently drove too fast towards the column at the Eichenstrasse intersection. The police officers again tried to stop the driver, who swerved onto the sidewalk and drove towards the police officers. An accident could only be prevented by quickly jumping to the officers’ side. The 34-year-old continued his journey towards Matzleinsdorfer Platz, where the first serious accident occurred.

Cyclist shot at intersection
The refugee also ignored the traffic rules, ignored the red light of the traffic light and collided with a cyclist (46) who was crossing the intersection. The 46-year-old was seriously injured. Pursuing officers and a passerby provided first aid and called the Vienna emergency services, who took the cyclist to a hospital. The driver of the accident continued towards the central station.

Other road users were injured
A short time later, further accidents occurred: At the Landstraßer Belt / Jacquingasse intersection, the 34-year-old drove into the path of oncoming traffic, damaging a vehicle. Shortly afterwards, another traffic accident occurred involving an oncoming vehicle with four occupants. The crash left one passenger (28) slightly injured and a second passenger (52) seriously injured. The following accident victims had to be rushed to hospital.

Passenger still on the run
Due to the serious accident, the car of the wild speeding offender eventually came to a stop. But turning himself in to the police still didn’t seem to be an option for the 34-year-old: he fled on foot. However, this did not last long, after a short chase the man was arrested. According to information from the “Krone”, the 34-year-old is said to have used drugs. His passenger managed to escape and is still wanted by police.
