There is probably a serial bank robber at work in Vienna right now: After two robberies at the end of November, an unknown person tried again to illegally obtain a “Christmas bonus” on Monday. This time a branch on Wagramer Straße in Donaustadt was hit. Only a short time later, another robbery took place at a gas station on Triesterstraat. The search is underway.
Readers of “Krone” reported on Monday afternoon about a large police presence around the Kagran Donauzentrum. As police spokesman Markus Dittrich confirmed, Wega and Co. through the area looking for a perpetrator masked with an FFP2 face mask. The man had to leave Dannen without money.
Modus operandi is comparable to Pinocchio’s robbers
But the perpetrator’s modus operandi – with a note on the counter and a gun – could be an indication that it is one and the same perpetrator who had already robbed two Viennese bank branches in recent weeks. Since then, the police have been looking for a robber with a noticeably large nose. However, the board cannot confirm whether the perpetrator on Monday was the same person who committed the other two robberies.
The person you are looking for must be approximately 6 feet tall. At the time of the crime on Monday, the suspect was wearing white gloves, a woolen hat, black pants, white shoes and a striped Adidas jacket.
An hour after Bank there was a gas station
According to police, a similar attack took place about an hour after the robbery of a gas station on Triesterstraat – this time successfully. From there the perpetrator, who was also masked with a face mask, was able to make off with a small four-figure sum of money. Another standout item was an Adidas jacket.
Two robberies in November
At the end of November, an unknown person entered a bank branch on Jörgerstrasse in Hernals. He calmly placed a piece of paper on the counter, lifted his sweater, showed a gun and fled with a large amount of cash. Less than a week after the attack in Hernals, the next robbery took place on Taborstrasse in Leopoldstadt.
