You probably only see this kind of ‘window of money’ in movies. In the vicinity of a gas station in Rum near Innsbruck, banknotes worth a considerable amount literally “danced” through the air on Wednesday morning. “Customers” arrived quickly, but the owner did not.
The extraordinary incident, which made even experienced police officers laugh, took place on Wednesday around 10.40 am in Rum at or next to Tiroler Straße B 171.
“Witnesses” took notes with them
The exact location was in the immediate vicinity of the Avanti gas station there. As if out of nowhere, banknotes worth 100 and 200 euros suddenly fluttered through the air. The ‘blessing of money’, of which no one knows how it came about, immediately attracted countless passers-by. They grabbed a few banknotes and disappeared. A witness who warned her about the illegality of her actions called the police.
Where the considerable amount of money, which the police do not know exactly, comes from is still a mystery. It is believed the money could have ‘flown’ off the roof of a car driving away from the petrol station.
Damage carrier unknown
A number of finders have now come forward and handed over the money to the police. Police are still wondering who the owner of the money could be. Because he hasn’t moved yet.
The loser, the finders and witnesses of the incident should contact the Rum police station (T 059133/7121).
