No emergency call was made – Lungauer Alkolenker left the scene of the accident

Date:

A driver from Lungau skidded on St. Martiner Bergstrasse in Salzburg on Wednesday night and the vehicle fell over an embankment. But instead of calling emergency services, the 47-year-old simply got out of the vehicle and left the scene of the accident. Police were able to identify the driver of the accident, who was also drunk.

Emergency services reached the scene of the accident in Ablanzergasse shortly after 8:30 p.m. Because the vehicle was abandoned, police started looking for the driver of the accident.

When they found him, they performed an alcohol test. This resulted in 0.88 per mille. The police then reported the incident to the local population.

Electric car recovered
Meanwhile, the St. Michael Fire Department attempted to recover the vehicle. This was a challenge due to the cramped conditions and the vehicle weight of approximately 2.8 tonnes. With the help of a lifting bag and the built-in cable winch of the fire brigade vehicle, the electric car was eventually recovered.
