A truck on the A2 near Schäffern completely burned out on Wednesday. The driver tried to extinguish the fire himself.
On Wednesday afternoon, the fire brigades from Schäffern, Pinggau and Aspang were called to the southern highway. A truck on its way to Graz caught fire near Schäffern. The 33-year-old driver, whose vehicle was loaded with brake discs, had previously heard a loud bang.
Heard scared
When the Polish driver stopped and checked, he saw that his vehicle was already on fire. He tried to prevent the worst with a hand fire extinguisher, but in vain. Despite quick assistance from the fire brigade, the driver’s cabin of the vehicle was completely engulfed in flames.
