At the end of March, four climate activists held the Salzburg State Bridge. This action was now discussed in the administrative court on Monday.
Three of the four activists have filed a complaint against the criminal decision of the district administration – which is why the state administrative court in Salzburg had to deal with the climate protectors on Monday. Legally it is about the right to assemble, morally it is about climate change. This is noticeable in hearing room 4 with some climate messages: “Meetings that do not cause disruption are not heard,” explained an activist who had a similar procedure that morning in Vienna.

Another says: ‘Future generations are important to me.’ And one of the three, a scientist, wanted to ‘support the climate protests’. They all heard about the glue campaign through a chat group and met early in the morning of March 29 near the Staatsbrücke. Who came up with the plan for the unannounced meeting? Who had the glue? Who the banners? No one could remember these things. One activist said, “I almost always have glue with me.”
The glue campaign caused enormous traffic jams in the city center, an official reported in the witness box. After an hour the illegal meeting was broken up. According to the activists’ lawyer, the fine for this is legally incorrect. The court’s position on this will only become clear in the coming weeks.
