Likewise, they grant Georgia candidate status and will begin negotiations with Bosnia and Herzegovina as soon as they meet the necessary requirements.

Despite the reluctance expressed by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán about opening negotiations with Ukraine, European Union (EU) leaders have unanimously agreed to open accession negotiations with Ukraine and Moldova. This was said by the president of the institution, Charles Michel, via social network X, after the summit they held in Brussels.

Likewise, Michel indicated that they have also granted Georgia the status of a candidate country and that they will begin negotiations with Bosnia and Herzegovina “once the necessary degree of compliance with the membership criteria has been achieved.”

In this sense, he added that the European Council has invited the European Commission to report before March with a view to taking such a decision. “A clear sign of hope for the population and for our continent,” Michel emphasizes.
