A body was discovered after a fire in a sauna hut in Wolkersdorf in the Weinviertel (Mistelbach district). The victim of the fire is probably the 83-year-old resident of the building. An autopsy was ordered.
A fire broke out in the sauna hut on Thursday morning. The 83-year-old wanted to heat the oven, but did not show up for a long time. So his wife went looking for him. In the end the man could only be saved dead; all help came too late for him. An autopsy should now provide clarity about the cause of death. However, negligence by third parties is excluded.
According to the Obersdorf volunteer fire brigade, the extinguishing work was difficult. A respiratory protection team was initially unable to enter the hut and therefore the fire had to be extinguished with an attack from outside. Part of a fallen canopy was then removed, allowing access to the hut.
